Having missed most of the season due to a troublesome groin injury, Doonbeg’s David Tubridy is back in the Clare senior football team and has been named to start at full forward on Saturday evening against Longford in Clare’s opening game in the qualifiers. The sharpshooter’s inclusion is the only change to the side which lined out against Cork in the Munster semi-final. He replaces Cooraclare’s Rory Donnelly in the full forward line. There is further good news for Clare with both Shane McGrath and Enda Coughlan named amongst the substitutes having recovered from the injuries which saw them miss the game with Cork. Both are expected to play at some stage on Saturday. By Seamus Hayes Shane O’Donnell has been named in the Clare team for this Saturday’s All-Ireland under 21 semi-final against Antrim. The Eire Og man suffered a broken bone in his hand in the Munster final win over Cork and it was feared that he would miss the semi-final as a result. However, he has satisfied the selectors as to his fitness and will play in the full forward line. The team named for duty shows one change from that which started in the Munster final with Alan O’Neill in at centre back in place of Conor Cleary who suffered a broken bone in his hand while playing for Kilmaley last week in the club hurling championship. By Seamus Hayes All-Ireland hat trick hero from last September, Shane O’Donnell, has been named at full forward in the under 21 hurling team for this Wednesday’s final against Cork at Cusack Park (throw in 7.15p.m.) Having missed most of the senior championship season due to a hamstring injury, the Eire Og man was introduced for the closing stages of the semi-final win over Tipperary. His return to fitness is a major boost for the side ahead of their clash with Cork. Clare are the defending champions and are chasing a third title win in as many seasons. O’Donnell’s selection is one of two changes to the team that started in the semi-final. Eoin Enright is named as midfield partner to Colm Galvin with Tony Kelly moving to centre forward. All-Ireland winning goalkeeper Patrick Kelly (Inagh-Kilnamona) has been recalled for this Saturday’s Qualifier clash with Wexford at Cusack Park and he will replace Donal Tuohywho filled the position in the recent Munster semi-final game against Cork. Kelly’s selection is one of two changes from the side which started against Cork. The other change is in attack where Cathal McInerney comes in for Peter Duggan. McInerney is named at corner forward in what will be an all Cratloe full forward line which also included Conor McGrath and Podge Collins Ballyea’s Jack Browne who made his senior championship; debut against Cork before being replaced by Seadna Morey, is retained at corner back.
