Devitt ready to go once more for Treaty United

Newmarket’s Lee Devitt will be hoping to lead from the front as Treaty United’s season kicks off this Friday. The tie is certainly an interesting one for Devitt as Treaty United face off against his old club Cobh Ramblers. With Markets Field set to host its first league game in 125 days, the Newmarket man is chomping at the bit to kickstart another campaign in Limerick. “I can’t wait for the new season to start. Everyone is buzzing to get underway. Our last league game was back in November, so it has been a while. Ten arrested in probe into alleged match fixing in LOI

A PROBE into alleged match fixing in the League of Ireland has been launched today by the Anti-Bribery & Corruption Unit, Garda National Economic Crime Bureau (GNECB). As part of the planned operation in the Southern Region and Dublin Metropolitan Regions, ten males (aged in their early 20s to 60s) have been arrested and a number of residential properties have been searched. The operation has been supported by resources attached to the Limerick and Cork City Divisions. The males have been arrested on suspicion of the offence of Conspiracy to Defraud contrary to Common Law and are currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at various stations in the Southern Region and Dublin Metropolitan Region. This operation stems from an investigation carried out by detectives attached to the Anti-Bribery & Corruption Unit in 2019 following reports of suspected match-fixing received from the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) and Union of European Football Associations (UEFA). Ennis goalkeeper puts pen to paper with Limerick FC

TALENTED young goalkeeper Peadar O’Keeffe (right) will be going to help his new club Limerick FC get off to a winning start in the under 17 league of Ireland this weekend. The Ennis teenager recently signed for Limerick’s under 17 side and will be in contention for playing time in their home tie against St Pats on Saturday. O’Keeffe was one of the stand out talents in the Banner county and has already shown plenty of potential during his time playing underage club football in Clare and Dublin. The 17-year-old joined the Ennis Town academy at the age of six and represented Clare at various levels underage. He played for Clare in the 2018 Kennedy Cup before joining one of the biggest schoolboy teams in Ireland, Cherry Orchard in the Dublin District Soccer League (DDSL).
