Bríd and Clare camogie’s award for memorable match programme

Clare Camogie’s Senior & Intermediate County Finals match programme has scooped the Mick Dunne Memorial Award for Programme of the Year. The 2022 Camogie Association Media Awards and Mick Dunne Memorial Award winners were recently announced with Clare Camogie’s County Board securing gold in the Best Match Programme category. Bríd MacNamara produced the programme for the two finals down for decision on Saturday, October 15th; the senior decider between Scariff/Ogonnelloe and Truagh/Clonlara and the Intermediate final between Clarecastle/Ballyea and Tulla. The programme has now been recognised as the best of its type in the country for the second year running. Clare Camogie also scooped this award last year as MacNamara’s programme for the Senior decider between Scariff/Ogonelloe and Truagh/Clonlara in 2021 was rewarded with the top prize. Bríd puts her best foot forward to raise funds

Clare camogie PRO Bríd MacNamara is aiming to walk one million steps during the month of July to raise funds for camogie within the county. Following on from the successful Clare Camogie to Croker & Back fundraiser in 2020, Bríd is again to the fore in this fundraising effort. This year Brid will be joined by all the other members of the Executive Committee, who she will lead out in completing the challenge. The Clare Camogie PRO will complete daily walks at home and during her work breaks while putting her walking shoes on in the evenings as she will visit each of the 26 camogie clubs. Members of the clubs will walk with her while each of the officers will complete a 2km walk each day. This year Brid has the added challenge of visiting 10 inter county games across senior, junior, minor and U-16 whilst completing the walk. No €250,000 camogie grant

DESPITE receiving confirmation this week that they are not to receive LEADER funding of up to €250,000, Clare camogie officials have said that the development of Fr McNamara Park on the Quin road will go ahead “We are very disappointed that we won’t be getting this money but the project is going ahead and will be completed”, Clare board PRO, Brid McNamara told the Clare Champion. The grant, in two lots, was announced at the beginning of 2013 towards the Clare organisation’s purchase and development plans for their new headquarters, Fr McNamara Park. During the summer concern emerged that the funding might be withdrawn as the eligibility of the project for funding was being assessed. “There is a procedure there whereby all projects are assessed, Clare camogie treasurer, Michael Maher told the Clare Champion at the time.
