Ennis Track win bronze medal

The national road relays took place last weekend in Raheny over a flat course and, in ideal weather conditions, athletes produced some very fast times.
Kilkishen native Sean Hehir from Rathfarnham WSAF provided a great finish over the final two-mile leg, running 9.33 to claim the title by one second from the defending champions Raheny Shamrocks, with Rory Chesser (Ennis Track) running a very fast time on the three-mile loop (14.28) to claim the bronze medal.
Ennis Track had two teams competing. Brian McGinley produced a remarkable performance, taking on numerous, more established senior athletes, and running 10.08 for slightly over two miles. Kevin Chesser, who is still a junior, showed his undoubted talent by finishing in 10.12.
Darragh Lynch scorched around the lap in 4.48 and the A team now lie in seventh position. Micheal Keane made valuable ground on the leading pack by running 4.58 for the mile leg on the B team.
Rory Chesser set a blistering pace around the course, running 14.24 for his leg and leaving the A team in third spot, with Aidan Kearney producing a time of 15.50.
The final legs were run by Micheal Maher and Brian Murphy respectively. Micheal Maher made a blistering start to this two-mile leg and held off the chasing pack to run 10.12 and held onto that third spot for Ennis Track A and claim the bronze medal for the club. Team captain Brian Murphy showed real speed in finishing in 10.20 to assist the B team to finish 11th.

Results

1 Rathfarnham WSAF (38.33); 2 Raheny Shamrocks (38.34); 3 Ennis Track A (Brian McGinley, Darragh Lynch, Rory Chesser, Michael Maher) (39.21); 11 Ennis Track B (Kevin Chesser, Micheal Keane, Kevin Chesser, Brian Murphy) (41.29).
