Sixmilebridge 3-15
Cratloe 0-12
A PHYSICALLY stronger and sharper Sixmilebridge side proved too strong for neighbours Cratloe in this Clare Champion Cup Division 1 tie played at O’Garney Park on Saturday.
Despite the fact that they lined out without their U-21 players, with the exception of Rory Shanahan from the A team and John Fennessy from the C team, the home side had too much for their neighbours.
Shanahan has only recently returned to action after injury and he certainly showed no signs of having been out of action as he scored 1-4 from play before being replaced early in the second half.
The home side played with the aid of the wind in the first half and took a seven-point lead to half-time when the score was 1-8 to 0-4.
The goal came from Danny Morey shortly before the half-time whistle but the Cratloe defence will be disappointed at the concession of this score. A Danny Murphy effort from 30m slipped through the hands of Seán Hayes in the Cratloe goal.
Inside the first minute of the second half the Cratloe keeper was dispossesed by Shanahan as he tried to clear his lines and the full-forward fired home his side’s second goal. Three minutes later the game was effectively over as a contest when David O’Connor struck for the home side’s third goal to stretch his side’s margin to 13 points.
Cratloe struggled in a number of vital areas throughout and they will need to improve in form with the championship fast approaching.

CLOONEY-QUIN got back to winning ways when they accounted for champions Clonlara at the title-holders’ venue on Saturday.
Clonlara got off to a dream start with a Cillian Fennessy goal as early as the third minute but four unanswered points from Clooney-Quin had the visitors in front before the 10th minute.
The sides were level by the end of the first quarter but then Clooney-Quin struck for 2-4 without reply, the goals coming from Fergal Lynch and Trevor Lee after good work by Adrian Fleming to lead at half-time on a scoreline of 2-11 to 1-4.
In the first six minutes of the second half, Donal Madden struck for 1-2 for Clonlara but three points followed from the winners, the third coming from a Cathal Egan 65, awarded when Ger O’Connell was penalised for stepping outside the small square when talking the puck-out.

Crusheen 5-9
Inagh-Kilnamona 1-17
GOALS win games and so it proved at Crusheen on Saturday when Crusheen scored five, three in the second half, to record their second successive win over Inagh-Kilnamona.
Inagh-Kilnamona led by a point at half-time when the score was 1-8 to 2-4 and when their five inter-county players left the action at this stage, their chances of victory didn’t appear great.
Three second-half goals proved decisive and Inagh-Kilnamona were left pointless for the second week in succession.
Paddy Meaney scored a hat-trick of goals for the winners, whose other goals came from Conor O’Donnell and Patrick O’Grady.
