Spoils shared at the Cragg

Tulla United A        3
Avenue United A  3

IN the only premier league game played on Sunday, Tulla United A and Avenue A shared the spoils at the Cragg.

The home side struck in injury time for the leveller to deservingly take a point from the tie, which produced some good play.
Tulla had a dream start as Colin Nelson punished some poor defending by the visitors in the first minute to shoot to the net.
Slowly Avenue got a grip on the tie and they levelled when David Smith crashed a 25-yard free kick to the Tulla net midway through the half. This score left the teams level at 1-1 at the break before the visitors took the lead in the third quarter.
When Denis Murphy was penalised for a tackle on Mikey Mahoney, the referee pointed to the penalty spot and David Russell made no mistake.
The game had just entered the final 10 minutes when Niall Whelan headed past Healy in the Avenue goal to level the tie at 2-2.
Now it was Avenue’s turn and they hit back with a goal from midfielder David McCarthy.
Tulla, however, refused to concede and, in injury time, Denis Murphy became their hero when he got the vital touch to level the tie at 3-3.
