Battle continues for league title

A one goal win for Corofin Harps over Rhine Roves on Wednesday evening last ensured that the race for the First Division title will go down to the wire.

Rhine are still ahead of Corofin on the league table but its very tight at the top at this stage and this week’s games could well determine who will be promoted.
In last week’s tie, which was played at Corofin, Diarmuid Daly scored the all-important goal with 20 minutes to play.
Stephen Monaghan had a Rhine Rovers goal disallowed in the first half when the match official ruled that there was an offside infringement.

Connolly Celtic kept up their challenge for promotion with this comfortable win over already relegated Kilrush Rangers.
The winners led 3-0 at half time and were always in control. On Monday next they face Rhine Rovers who are currently in second place, a point behind the leaders.
Connolly’s goalscorers last week were Mickey Byrnes (2) Kieran Dillon, Kenneth Kennedy and Brian Connellan. Cathal Carigg replied for Kilrush Rangers.

Ennistymon keep promotion hopes alive

Brendan Talty put Inch in front on 30 minutes. Ennistymon equalised before half time through Kieran Monaghan and went on to dominate the second half and score a comprehensive victory.
Scorers for the winners in the second half were Sean McConigley (2), one from the penalty spot, Kieran Monaghan, Pa Foley and Alan Sexton.
This weekend the North Clare side play Newmarket Celtic B who are also in the chase for promotion.

Vital win for Kilmaley

Kilmaley scored what may yet prove to be a vital win in their race for promotion when they accounted for West Clare United at Tiermaclane on Sunday.
Victory over St Pat’s in their final game of the campaign on this Friday will seal promotion for the mid Clare outfit. Any slip up by them in Kilmihil will allow the West Clare side back in profided they beat Hermitage C in their final game that is also set for Friday.
West Clare were first to score in Sunday’s game at Tiermaclane when Jason Russell found the target midway through the first half. this goal separated the sides at half time.
Kilmaley enjoyed the better of matters in the second half and levelled 15 minutes after the resumption of play when Shane Constable scored. Fifteen minutes later John Molloy struck what proved to be the winning goal.
