In a milestone year, Doonbeg Drama Group has qualified for the All-Ireland Confined Amateur Drama finals.

Buoyed by their award winning performances on the festival circuit, the West Clare thespians will be Clare’s sole flag bearers at the finals in the refurbished Wexford Opera House.
The finals run from April 8 to 16 with Doonbeg performing the Bernard Farrell comedy Say Cheese on the final night.
The group, which is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its foundation, competed on the amateur drama circuit at festivals in West Clare, Rossmore, Claregalway, Charleville and Scariff where they picked up several awards.
The group secured two first places, a second and a third while cast members shared six acting awards as well as receiving numerous other nominations. Not to be outdone, the crew also picked up best set and best lighting awards.
Doonbeg Drama Group is the only group from Clare to qualify for either the confined finals in Wexford or the open finals in Athlone.
In preparation for the finals, the group will stage Say Cheese on Sunday, April 10, and again on Wednesday, April 13, in Doonbeg Community Hall at 8.30pm with doors open at 7.30pm.
