Postman PJ retires after 43 years

One of West Clare’s best-known postmen has retired after 43 years of delivering the post in Labasheeda. PJ O’Halloran retired two weeks ago after a lifetime of service to his area.

 PJ O’Halloran has retired from his post after 43 years.A native of Kilmurry McMahon, PJ is known the length and breadth of Clare for his contribution to the GAA, ladies football, greyhound racing and for running card playing tournaments.
He was involved in the underage section of Shannon Gaels GAA Club for several years before branching into ladies football, where he served his club and county.
PJ worked as a mentor and also served as PRO for the Clare Ladies Football County Board at underage and adult level.
He also has been a regular sight walking greyhounds in Kilmurry McMahon throughout the years.
A evening to celebrate PJ’s contribution to the community will be held on Friday night in St Kieran’s Community Centre in Labasheeda from 9pm.
Friends and colleagues of PJ from across Clare are invited to attend.
