No change at the top in Bórd na nÓg Iomaint

THE executive of Bord na nÓg Iomaint in Clare will be returned for another term when delegates gather for the board’s annual convention at the Auburn Lodge Hotel, Ennis, this Thursday night at 7.30pm.
Having had difficulty to get volunteers for a number of the posts at convention time in recent years, the posts were finally filled early in 2011. All officers will be returned for another term at this week’s gathering, which will debate a total of 13 motions.
Sixmilebridge will ask that all motions for future conventions be submitted two weeks before convention to enable the secretary to forward them to the clubs so that they can discuss them before the meeting
Wolfe Tones will ask that a Minor C Hurling Championship be introduced in 2012. This would be an 11-a-side competition and would cater for clubs that cannot field a team on their own – they would be allowed to continue existing amalgamation arrangements – and clubs who did not field a team in 2011. During the year under review, Wolfe Tones were forced to withdraw from the Minor Hurling Championship due to lack of numbers.
Broadford will ask that where three or more teams form an amalgamation, they must compete at A level.
Broadford will also propose a minimum of eight teams compete in the Minor A Championship. They further propose a shield competition be introduced to provide more games for the teamS that finish in the bottom four places.
The board executive will propose that the quarter-finals of all competitions from U-14 to minor be played on a home-and-away basis with the venues to be decided by the toss of a coin. The semi-finals and finals will continue to be at neutral venues.
Whitegate will ask clubs entering amalgamated teams to enter individual teams in the same age groups at a lower level.
