TWO goals from Tom Monaghan moved Newmarket a step closer the Premier League title when they defeated Bridge United A at McDonough Park on Sunday.

Monaghan scored the first goal after 15 minutes after Davy Wall played a good through pass and he struck again on the half hour when he headed to the net following a cross from Seamus Considine.

A SHARE of the spoils resulted when Rock Rovers and Hermitage A cashed at Lees Road on Sunday.
Hermitage went two goals up through Ger Dullaghan and Scott Hennessy and this was the position at half-time.
In the second half, Rock Rovers hit back with goals from Graham Glynn and a Daryl Eade penalty to earn a point.

AVENUE kept up their challenge for the premier title with this win over Bridge Celtic A at Lees Road on Sunday.
A strong start, which saw them score three in the first half hour, sealed this latest win for the Ennis side. Dave McCarthy (2) and Mikey Mahoney scored for the winners who are the only side that can stop Newmarket Celtic from capturing the title.
