Kilmaley 0-8 Newmarket-on-Fergus 0-7
KILMALEY avenged last year’s Clare Senior Camogie Championship final result on Sunday evening by beating Newmarket by the narrowest of margins. Kilmaley opened the scoring when Claire McMahon pointed from a free inside the first minute.
Newmarket had three points on the board from Sharon McMahon, Deirdre Cassidy and Jennifer Kelly before Denise Lynch pointed again for Kilmaley. Kelly, Róisín McMahon and Iris Kaiser all pointed for Newmarket before the half-time whistle leaving the score at 0-6 to 0-2 in favour of Newmarket.
The second half saw Kilmaley dominate all over the field and Claire McMahon was unerring from placed balls, levelling matters between the sides at the midway point of the second half. Róisín McMahon pointed from a free in the 21st minute to put Newmarket in front, however persistent fouling by the Newmarket backs enabled Claire McMahon to put Kilmaley back in front and secure the win.

SIXMILEBRIDGE and Kilkishen finished level on Sunday evening in the Mills. Both sides battled hard throughout the first half, trading scores with Noelle MacNamara raising Kilkishen’s first green flag midway through the half. Kilkishen’s Marie Collins goaled again six minutes later. The half-time score was 2-7 to 2-4 to Sixmilebridge.
In the second half, Kate Lynch pointed from midfield in the final minute to level the match.

INAGH secured their second win in the intermediate league with this victory over Whitegate on Sunday. Whitegate were first on the board with a point in the fourth minute. However, the Inagh dominance in the middle of the field saw them score 2-8 before Whitegate scored again. The half-time score was Inagh 3-15, Whitegate 0-3. Whitegate did better in the second half, and Aisling Treacy’s goal midway through the half gave them a timely lift. Inagh were the stronger outfit of the day and finished in flying form.

OGONNELLOE got off to a good start in this game with their forwards putting great pressure on the Clarecastle defence from early on. Clarecastle’s backs stood strong and with Sharon Quinn in excellent form in goals, they kept Ogonnelloe goalless. At the other end, Clarecastle had some good goal chances but failed to put them away. Susan Vaughan was on top form for Ogonnelloe scoring some good points in the first half while Grace Costelloe got Clarecastle off the mark midway through, leaving the half-time score at 0-5 to 0-2 in favour of Ogonnelloe. Ogonnelloe started the second half as they finished the first, notching up more points through Susan Vaughan, from placed balls and from play and also from Anne-Marie Fitzgerald who was operating at wing-forward. Marian O’Brien scored an excellent point from play and this sealed off a good day for Ogonnelloe. Clarecastle’s forwards struggled to get any clean possession throughout the second half and could only manage one further point from Sharon O’Loughlin.

Truagh-Clonlara 2-1 Ballyea 0-6
ORIGINALLY down to be played in Ballyea, this game was moved to Clonlara. It was a perfect day for camogie and the pitch was in great condition after the spell of good weather. Both teams battled hard to the finish but a late Truagh goal won it for the hosts. Ballyea started the stronger, scoring a number of unanswered points from play with the aid of a slight breeze. Truagh came back into the game with a goal from play from Caroline Moloney before Ballyea added another point to end the half ahead by the minimum. Truagh started stronger in the second half with the aid of the breeze. The minimum separated the teams for the last few minutes and both teams showed some fine defending during that time. With two minutes remaining, the ball broke in front of the Ballyea goal after a fine cross from Aideen Hogg and Caroline Moloney first timed to the net. Truagh won by a point after fine displays up the centre from Christine Meskell, Tracy Moloney and Aideen Hogg.

KILKISHEN secured a win over Tulla under lights on Saturday night. The outcome was in the balance right to the final whistle. With 10 minutes remaining, Tulla led by a point only for Kilkishen’s Ciara Ryan to goal and put them ahead. Tulla gave it their all to try and level the match but the Kilishen backs defended superbly

THIS was a disappointing start to the league for Éire Óg who were slow to settle but were much stronger in the second half. Despite some great individual performances, most notably from Ruth Lillis at full-back, failure to convert scoring chances cost them any chance victory in this encounter.
Killanena 4-7 Sixmilebridge 1-1
THE ’Bridge got off to a great start, with a goal in the opening five minutes. However, missing some top scorers, it was always going to be tough to get scores on the board and they only managed to secure one more point. This was a tough physical game in which Killanena dominated throughout.
