A CONSORTIUM led by Tralee business man Brian Dillon, managing director of Dillon Waste and Recycling, has acquired for an undisclosed sum Mr Binman, the household and commercial waste collection and recycling company. No details of the cost of the acquisition by the Kerry company were revealed.
The acquisition relates to Mr Binman only, which has customers in Clare, Limerick, Kerry, Cork and Galway. It does not relate to Clearpoint and O’Mearas (Mr Binman Clonmel), which continue to trade as normal in receivership.
Kieran Wallace and Padraic Monaghan of KPMG had been appointed by the High Court last November as joint receivers to Mr Binman.
When the matter first came before the High Court, it was stated the company employed around 330 people directly and 280 indirectly.
The acquired entity will continue to trade under the successful brand, Mr Binman. Brian Dillon will take up the role as managing director of the company.
Dillon Waste is a successful waste and recycling business based in Tralee, servicing both household and commercial sectors.  Commenting on the acquisition, Brian Dillon said, “Mr Binman is a strong Limerick company, which despite undergoing a receivership process, has managed to hold its own in what is a highly competitive market. I would like to thank our customer base for their loyalty and support during the process and assure them that it is our intention to continue and enhance further the quality Mr Binman’s customer service. I would like to also thank the loyalty and support shown to Mr Binman by its employees.”
Concluding, he said, “It is our objective now to quickly return the business to a strong commercial footing, which will ensure the company’s success into the future.”
Commenting, Kieran Wallace of KPMG said, “I am delighted that the most suitable buyer has been found for the Limerick operations of Mr Binman. I wish Brian Dillon, his team and the employees of Mr Binman the very best for the future.”
