High note for Ruan’s Tara

A renowned North Clare musician added another string to her bow when she took top honours in the senior fiddle competition at Oireachtas na Samhna.
The prestigious senior Oireachtas fiddle competition was held recently at The Brehon Hotel in Killarney, as part of Oireachtas na Samhna 2011.
Tara Breen from Ruan received the silver Corn Crotaigh Cup, the Oireachtas Silver Medal, The PJ Giblin Trophy and €400 in prize money. Ms Breen is no stranger to competitions, having already this year won the senior fiddle competition at the All-Ireland Fleadh in Cavan as well as performing for the Queen of England during her historic visit to the country earlier this year.
