Gardai make several seizures of drugs across county Clare

GARDAI in the Clare division have made several seizures of drugs across the county over the past week.

As part of the ongoing operation targeting the sale or supply of controlled substances in the Clare Garda Division, gardaí carried out a number of searches under warrant in the county over the past week.

The largest seizure was of suspected cocaine, with an estimated street value of €32,000, in Ennis on Friday, April 9 at 5.30 pm.

Gardaí from the Clare Divisional Drugs Unit executed a search warrant at a house in the county town and seized the suspected drugs and arrested two males, both in their early 30s.

The pair were arrested at the scene and brought to Ennis Garda Station where they were detained under the provisions of the Section 2 Drug Trafficking Act 1996.

Both have since has since been released and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Later on the same evening at around 7 p.m. the Divisional Drugs Unit carried out a further search under warrant in a house in Ennis and recovered €2,000 worth of suspected cocaine.

No arrest was made but gardaí are following a definite line of enquiry.

Earlier in the week, at around 10.30 a.m. last Wednesday, gardaí from Shannon Garda Station executed a search warrant at a house in Kilmurray, Sixmilebridge.

During the course of the search gardaí seized €4,000 worth of suspected Cannabis Herb and €800 worth of suspected Cocaine.

A male in his late 20s was interviewed and a file is being prepared for submission to the DPP for directions.

On Friday evening, at 4.30 pm, gardaí from Ennistymon Garda Station executed a search warrant at a house in the north Clare town.

During the course of the search of the house and land €5,880 worth of suspected Cocaine was recovered in a field. No arrests have been made but Gardaí are following a definite line of enquiry.

All of the suspected drugs will now be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.
