Fleming going back to Glór

POPULAR singer Tommy Fleming will perform at Glór on the Munster leg of his tour on Thursday, January 20.

The tour is to promote the release of his latest album, Going Back, which after only week of sale at the end of October entered the album charts at number four and achieved the number one position in the indie charts. The DVD has most recently been placed at number two.
A programme on Tommy, showing the working of a singer with an orchestra and behind the scenes of how music is recorded, entitled Going Back, was broadcast on RTÉ 1 last October and received strong reviews.
This was followed by a performance by the singer on The Late, Late Show of the album’s title track, Going Back, the following week. The album was also one of the biggest selling Irish albums in the lead-up to Christmas.
Tommy is now recognised as one of the most successful Irish singers of his generation across the globe. One of his latest albums, Voice of Hope, has been one of the best-selling albums over the last number of years.
His Going Back album realises a life-long ambition of Tommy’s to record classic and nostalgic songs that everyone knows and loves from the past 50 years, performed in a powerful style backed by the Irish Concert Orchestra on the CD and RTÉ Concert Orchestra on the DVD. It includes unique tracks such as The Boxer by Simon and Garfunkel, My Life by Shirley Bassey, Softly as I leave You by Matt Munroe and a huge musical classic from Willie Russell’s Blood Brothers, Tell me it’s not true.
Tommy said the inspiration for the album came from memories of enjoying those songs with his parents growing up in Sligo and became the formative platform for his internationally renowned career. His Glór concert will feature songs from the new album, as well as tracks from earlier recordings.
Tickets for the Tommy Fleming concert are available from the Glór box office on 065 6843103 or online at www.glor.ie.
