Liscannor 2-9   Cooraclare 1-6

A excellent first-half display laid the foundation for Liscannor’s six-point defeat of Cooraclare in Moher on Monday.
Niall Considine netted Liscannor’s first-half goal following a long ball in towards the Cooraclare square, which they didn’t effectively deal with.
Cooraclare improved in the second half with John Looney scoring their goal while the full-forward also kicked a number of points. However, Alan Flaherty’s goal sealed the result for Liscannor. He fisted to the net following a delivery from Johnny Considine.
Alan Clohessy and Kieran Considine added the Liscannor points, while Michael Kelly and John Francis Killeen scored points for Cooraclare.

St Breckan’s 1-10   Cratloe 1-6

St Breckan’s picked up an opening win in the Garry Cup when they defeated the home club in Cratloe on Bank Holiday Monday. A first-half goal from Gearóid Ryan got Cratloe off to a good start but St Breckan’s settled to lead 0-6 to 1-2 at half-time.
With the Cormican twins playing well and Stephen Tierney dominating at midfield, the North Clare men dominated much of the second half. Tierney netted the winners’ goal, netting after completing an impressive overlap. The same player scored 0-3 from wing-back for the Clare U-21s against Limerick in the opening round of the Munster championship.
Although Cratloe were without a number of first-choice players, St Breckan’s deserved their win and will now look to build up some momentum in the games ahead.

Lissycasey 0-10   St Senan’s 0-3

They led by 0-3 to 0-2 at the interval thanks to scores from Diarmuid Keane (0-2f) and Conor Murray to which Niall Kelly had responded for the home side with two converted frees.
In the second half, Lissycasey dictated matters with Kelly adding three more points, while Martin O’Connor, Matt O’Shea, Enda Finnucane and Francis Hayes also got on the scoresheet.

Clondegad 3-10   O’Curry’s 3-6

Clondegad got their cup campaign off to a winning start at Ballynacally on Sunday but only after they beat off a strong O’Curry’s second-half showing.
Leading 2-6 to 0-1 at half-time, Clondegad scored a third goal in the first minute of the second half and looked to be on the way to a runaway win. From here on, however, O’Curry’s dictated matters and fought back to within two points of the winners at one stage.
Paudge McMahon scored two first-half goals for the winners and Paddy Breen found the net in the first minute of the second half following good work by Gary Brennan.
Eoon Troy, who finished with 2-6 for the visitors, sparked off a great fight back by the Doonaha outfit when he scored a stunning goal early in the second half. Substitute Michael Carmody had their second before Troy struck for his second and his team’s third.
However, time was not on their side and Clondegad held on for victory.
