Final time in Cusack Park

The Clare Champion sponsored Clare Cumann na mBunscoil boys and girls football finals were played at Cusack Park last Wednesday and Thursday.
There were eight finals in all and the finals produced some exciting football. Cratloe National School scored a great double winning the girls and boys Division 2 titles.

Ennis National School 2-6 Gaelscoil Mhichíl Ciosóg 1-7

In a very close contest, Ennis National overcame the challenge of Gaelscoil Mhichíl Ciosóg in the girls Division 1A final.
This was a thrilling final with Ennis National snatching victory with a goal in the final minute of the tie.
Chloe Eustace was the winners’ top scorer with 0-4, while Maressa Hayes and Nina Jabkonska each scored a goal with Ciara Casey and Orla Waters scoring a point each.
The game’s top scorer was Jennifer Ní Mharachain with 0-6 while Siobhán Ní Chuinneagain (1-0) and Sionna Ní Dhonabhain (0-1) completed their tally.

Quilty-Mullagh captured the girls Division 1 B title with this victory over Barefield for whom Sadhbh Woods accounted for their total score.
Chloe Moloney managed 4-2 for the winners with Nicole Doherty getting two goals and Lauren McCarthy adding a point.

Scoil Mhuire Corofin proved too strong for Clonmoney in this girls Division 3 final last Wednesday.
Chantel McCaw scored a hat trick of goals for the winners while the outstanding Louise Browne (1-4) Siobhán Lane (1-2) and Corina McMahon (0-2) were their other scorers. Áine Fehilly was outstanding for Clonmoney.

Cratloe captured the boys Division 2 final with a one-goal victory over St Aidan’s.
Conor Malone scored the all-important goal for the winners. Jack McInerney and Diarmuid Ryan each contributed 0-2 and Billy Connors got the other point.
Evan O’Gorman (0-4) and Dylan Frawley replied for the Shannon side while Billy Connors, Jack McInerney and Conor Malone impressed for the winners.

Extra time was needed to separate Ennis CBS and Knockanean in the boys Division 1 final that produced some great football.
The sides were level at 0-4 each at the end of normal time. In extra time, the winning scores came from Nzube Okoye and Colm Walsh-O’Loughlin.
Keelan Butler excelled for Knockanean while Mikey Whelan and Nzube Okoyo were prominent for the winners.

In the girls Division 2 final, Cratloe proved too strong for Broadford.  Karen Gallagher, who was outstanding throughout and Mary O’Connor each scored 1-2 for the winners while Niamh Mulqueen (1-0) and Siobhán O’Connell replied for Broadford.

Lisdoonvarna-Doolin captured the boys Division 3 title when they proved too strong for Corofin. Colin O’Brien got the decisive scores for the winners and finished the game as the top scorer with 2-2.
Other scorers for the winners were Padraig Kelly, Sean Urquhart (1-0) each, Darren Gray (0-2), Evan Barrett and Michael Flanagan (0-1) each. Gerard Cahill scored 1-1 for Corofin with Damian O’Loughlin scoring a goal.

Extra time was also needed in the Division 4 boys final before Scoil na Mainistreach emerged victorious over Doora.
The sides were deadlocked at 2-6 each at the end of normal time. In the extra period, Stephen Frain (1-1) and Alan Culligan scored for the winners, while Darragh Duggan (2) and Barry Cotter had points for Doora.
Frain, Davy Rochford and Harry McCarthy impressed for the winners while Barry Cotter, Kieran Mulqueen and Jack O’Grady were prominent for Doora.
Stephen Frain with 2-6 and Alan Culligan with 1-2 contributed the winners’ tally while Darragh Duggan and Barry Cotter each scored 0-4 for Doora with Kieran Mulqueen and Jack O’Grady scored a goal each and Conor Mulchrone got their remaining point.
