Ennis crowned JB Carr Munster champions

Ennis were crowned Munster JB Carr seniors golf champions on Monday evening after a narrow win over an East Cork side.

Seán Fitzpatrick with Padraig Ryan, club captain, and Pat O’Reilly, seniors’ captain, watching the action. In a game played over two legs, the outcome was in doubt right to the very end. Ennis travelled to the East Cork course in Midleton last Friday for the first leg and they came away with a 3-2 win.
Their Cork opponents returned to Ennis on Monday of this week determined to bounce back but at the end of a tremendous contest, Ennis were 3.5 to 1.5 in front and safely through to the All-Ireland final weekend, which will take place at Woodenbridge in Wicklow.
In East Cork on Friday Sean O’Gorman and Paul Higgins, Luke Coote and Larry O’Farrelly, Tony Kehoe and Matt Flynn won their matches while the Noel Pyne/Michael Culliney and Aidan Lynch/Eamonn Corry pairings were defeated.
On Monday Noel Pyne and Michael Culliney lost 2 and 1 while Sean O’Gorman and Paul Higgins won 2 and 1 to level the game. John Finn and Eamonn Corry won 3 and 2 while Luke Coote and Larry O’Farrelly won 7 and 6. The match involving Tony Kehoe and Matt Flynn was called in with one to play.
