Clare athletes dominate in Tipperary championships

The Munster Juvenile B Track and Field Championships for U-9 to U-16 plus the pentathlon for U-12 to U-19 were held in hot conditions at the Templemore track in Tipperary at the weekend.

Clare athletes captured 10 gold, 10 silver and nine bronze medals, with many fine individual performances recorded. Keisha Attwell, St Mary’s, was first on the podium taking gold in the girls U-9 ball throw and she also came home in third spot in the 300m with Niamh Conlon, Kilmihil, taking bronze in the girls’ U-9 60m.
In the girls’ U-10 there was gold in the ball throw for Willow Swire, Shannon, while in U-11, Tara Kelly, St Mary’s, won gold in the 60m and silver in the long jump. In the 600m. Emer Keane, Kilmurry Ibrickane/North Clare, finished strong to capture the silver medal.
