Early goals set up ’Tage for win in Shannon

Hermitage A 2   Shannon Olympic A 1

SHANNON Olympic A were beaten in the Premier Division at home on Sunday by Hermitage A by 2-1.
Despite starting the game better and looking the superior side, Olympic gave away two goals in seven minutes of the first half and this cushion was enough for Hermitage to see out the game and head back to Ennis with all three points.
Ger Dullaghan was the star of the show for Hermitage, scoring first from the penalty spot after Liam Meaney was fouled in the Olympic box on 30 minutes by Jason Regan. Dullaghan doubled his tally on 37 minutes when his speculative effort from 35 yards took a wicked bounce and evaded Gary McGettrick in the Olympic goals.
Olympic created plenty of chances throughout the game, most notably when a Sean O’Connor effort was cleared off the line and an Ian Hogan shot, which came off the post but a combination of poor finishing and dogged defending by the visiting team meant that Olympic never got back into the game.
Olympic did manage a goal when Ray Quigley converted a penalty but this was literally the last kick of the game as referee, Dave McCarthy blew for full-time immediately after the kick.
