Duathlon

IN excess of 100 competitors took part in the Ennis duathlon at Lees Road on Sunday.

Photographs by Declan MonaghanIn aid of ClareCare, 129 competitors took part over 2.7km run, a 16.85km cycle and a 2.5km run at Lees Road as the Ennis Triathlon Club hosted Ireland’s only Draft Legal Race, held between the top juniors and the best from Triathlon Irelands own National Series
This was a separate wave, consisting of only 14 competitors starting 10 minutes before the main group, in a highly competitive race, which was won by Constantine Doherty (43:00) followed closely by Cathal O’Donovan (43.03) with Aaron O’Brien (44.01) making up the top three with Ennis Triathlon Club’s own Paddy Quinn finishing eighth (45:37).
The main race consisting of 115 competitors was won by Ennis Tri Club’s own Jude McEntee (47:37) from James Skehan (48:26) and David Brew (48:34). Andree Walkin (51:48) brought home the female athletes with Margaret Hogan (58:30) in second place followed by Zelma Power (1:00:03).
