District Court poor box benefits from over €13,000


CLARE-based charitable and voluntary organisations have benefited to the tune of €13,050 collectively from the District Court poor box.

The poor box, however, amounted to almost half what it was in 2008, which saw a total of €26,000 collected by the court.
Judge Joseph Mangan recently allocated the funds collected by the District Court in 2009 and the Society of St Vincent de Paul has received the largest donation, of €5,000. Others to benefit from the funds include ClareCare, €1,000; Bushy Park Treatment Centre, €1,000; Cahercalla Hospice, €1,000; The Samaritans, €1,000; Clarehaven, €1,000; St Joseph’s Training Centre, €1,000; The Red Cross, €1,000; Kilkee Marine Search and Rescue, €350; Doolin Search and Rescue, €350 and Killaloe/Ballina Search and Rescue, €350.
