Clubs receive grant aid from council

At a function in the Temple Gate Hotel on Monday night, Munster Council distributed development grants to clubs for work on pitch and dressing room developments.
Over the three years (2007-2009) Munster GAA has distributed € 5,600,000 to clubs across the province. This money has, in the main, been generated from gate receipts. Central Council has contributed €2,381,805 to club physical development grants over the same period. In 2010, Munster GAA distributed €1,608,149 to club and county physical development projects.
In addition to the expenditure in relation to physical development, Munster GAA has also provided other financial support in 2010 to counties, with a total of €480,752 paid out to Clare. Team expenses and field rent amounted to €67,853; €121,602 was for coaching with €58,790 for projects. The biggest figure, €232,507, went to physical development in a selection of clubs.
The Clare clubs to benefit are: Ballyea (€16,000); Broadford (€11,305); Kilrush (€16,000); Moy (€1,689); O’Curry’s (€9.965); St Joseph’s Doora-Barefield (€32,085); Sixmilebridge (€21,379); Banner (€3,298); Clonlara (€3,198); Cooraclare (€1,269); Ennistymon (€5,429); Feakle (€4,776); Kilmaley (€21,353); Kilmihil (€17,298); Kilmurry-Ibrickane (€8,316); Naomh Eoin (€6,621); Ogonnelloe (€6,902); Ruan (€1,966); St Breckan’s (€5,759); Miltown St Joseph’s (€11,432); Shannon Gaels (€6,911); Tulla (€3,728); Clooney-Quin (€4,609); Connolly National School (€5,000) and Stonehall National School (€260).
Limerick received €578,519, Tipperary received €739,877, Cork received €976,642, Kerry received €746,007 and Waterford received €365,776.
During the course of the championship, over 17,961 children and their families availed of packages that saved families across the province €403,554. In addition, 11,927 students and OAPs received discounted access to ticketed Munster championship games, providing them with savings of €110,000. These groups also receive discounted access to all non-ticketed games.
Munster GAA administers a student bursary scheme across all third-level colleges in the province, which is worth €70,000 to students. In 2010, Munster GAA contributed €340,000 towards player welfare and other schemes. €22,604,020 is the total expenditure by Munster clubs and counties on physical development projects in 2009.  This figure dropped to €14,544,267 in 2010.
