EVERYONE knows the Cliffs of Moher and Aillwee Burren Experience are great places to visit and according to their staff, they’re great places to work too.

Both of North Clare’s most popular attractions have been awarded the Great Place to Work Certification for 2022.

The certification is awarded based on the results of a survey completed recently by the staff at both organisations.

Great Place to Work® provides independent company assessments based entirely on employees’ feedback about their workplace experience.

The Cliffs of Moher Experience has received the certification for the second year running and improved its overall score from last year.

Some of the highlights from the survey included 98% of staff believing the Cliffs is committed to diversity and inclusion.

Regarding its sustainability ethos, 83% of employees believe the Cliffs of Moher Experience is working towards reducing its impact on the environment.

“We are honoured to receive this certification again for the second year in a row and thrilled to be part of Failte Ireland’s Employer Excellence Programme. This award is based solely on employees’ survey responses,” said Geraldine Enright, Director of the Cliffs of Moher Experience.

“Building a culture of empathy and inclusion for our employees is every bit as important to us as our visitor experience and this partnership helps us achieve a world class visitor experience.

“The Cliffs of Moher Experience attracts and retains the best of talent because we invest in our people and foster an environment for all to succeed. The Great Place to Work Certification does not come easy, and we are truly dedicated to the employee experience and to know that we are one of the best companies to work for in the country,” stated Ms Enright.

Managing Director of Aillwee Cave Co Ltd., Nuala Mulqueeney said of the certification, “I am so proud. We have collected many awards over the years for our over and underground experiences but this one is so special as it’s all about our people and team.

Nuala Mulqueeney, Managing Director of Aillwee Cave Co Ltd with staff members at the Aillwee Burren Experience.

“This time round, it’s less about what we do and more about how we do it. We have a talented, welcoming, caring, and friendly team and I couldn’t be more chuffed of them all and what we have built together.

“Thank you to each and every member of our team. We often say it as we get on with our working day but, truly, together is better.”

The accreditation is particularly significant for Aillwee Burren Experience this year as it has undergone an entire company rebrand and the company continues a series of upgrades, investing almost €2million across the site since starting over 12 months ago.

The team have been eager and onboard at every step of the upgrade and rebrand journey, enthusiastically embracing long overdue and necessary changes along the way.

Ms Mulqueeney added, “Aillwee’s almost 50-year-old mission and ethos continues to be welcoming, entertaining, and educating our visitors. We strive to provide similar to our team members, as a family run business in The Burren and contributor to Rural Ireland’s sustainable and regenerative Tourism Industry. Authentic certification like this recognises that these efforts are succeeding and that is so satisfying.”
