Clare Lotto winner comes forward

The National Lottery has confirmed that the winning ticket holder of a Lotto jackpot worth €4,041,306 on Saturday May 9, which was sold in Lissycasey, has made contact.

The winning Quick Pick ticket was bought in Talty’s Mace.

A National Lottery spokesperson said: “We can confirm that we have been contacted by the lucky ticket holder and arrangements are currently being made for the claim to be made once restrictions are lifted due to the on-going public health emergency. We cannot wait to welcome the fifth Lotto jackpot winner of the year to the National Lottery Winner’s Room when it is safer to do so”.

Speaking last week on selling this winning Lotto ticket, Cathal Talty, owner of the shop, which set up in Lissycasey more than 45 years ago by his parents, said: “The majority of our trade in these times is from the local community. Before the health restrictions we would have had a lot of passing trade as Lissycasey is a gateway to West Clare and a lot of holidaymakers would have passed through on the way to the West Clare coastline but obviously that has quietened at the moment. However, this is great news for our town and I hope it is one of our regular customers. Whoever the lucky person is, I’m sure the €4 million will find a good home”.

The ticket holder is the fifth Lotto jackpot winner of 2020 and since the Lotto game began in 1988, there have been 42 Lotto jackpot winners from Clare who have shared over €64 million in jackpot prizes.
