The Munster Group Clare Community Games athletic finals were held in bright sunshine at Lees Road on Sunday before one of the biggest attendances to date.Bunting, banners and flags all added to the atmosphere before the 2,000 finalists from all parts of the county battled it out for honours and for the chance of representing Clare at the national finals in Athlone in August.At the outset, the Tulla Pipe band led the parade of the various areas and this was followed by the opening ceremony.Chairman Pat Taylor welcomed all present including the mayor of Clare, Pat Hayes, mayor of Ennis, Peter Considine and Padraic McNicholas representing the Munster Group, new sponsors of Clare Community Games. At a meeting of the Munster GAA council’s competitions control committee (CCC) at the provincial body’s offices in Limerick on Monday evening, Hennessy Park in Miltown was confirmed as the venue for the up-coming provincial junior football final between Clare and Kerry.
