A body has been recovered from the base of the Cliffs of Moher, during a search for a missing woman. A search was launched late on Saturday night for a missing tourist believed to be in her 40s. The body was recovered on Sunday afternoon and was taken to University Hospital Limerick for formal identification and post mortem.    

MAYORSTONE Gardai in Limerick are investigating following the discovery of a woman’s body in Ardnacrusha on Friday. The woman was discovered close to a stream, near Ardnacrusha Power Station. The  deceased woman is believed to have been in her 60s. Meanwhile a teenager, who was surfing in Spanish Point has been hospitalised, following an accident on Friday evening.The teenager is being treated at University Hospital Limerick.  

  The development of a new state-of-the-art Ennis primary school will “stand the test of time” for future generations, according to An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar. Speaking at the official opening of Scoil Chríos Rí, Cloughleigh, Ennis, on Friday morning, the Taoiseach told students and staff they had an “incredible campus” with “wonderful new school buildings”. The new modern spacious facility has resulted in the demolition of old prefabs and the provision of high-tech equipment in each classroom for the 210 pupils and 26 staff. Deputy Leo Varadkar said he was delighted to be present to open these “magnificent school buildings”. The Taoiseach said this modern new learning space was a credit to everyone in Ennis and the country. An Garda Síochána, in conjunction with the Public Appointments Service, has opened a recruitment competition for Garda trainees. The competition, which is open from this Wednesday (April 3) until 3pm on April 24 2019, is seeking to attract candidates from across society and with a wide-variety of skills to join An Garda Síochána. As of March 31, there are 14,161 members of An Garda Síochána and there is a Government commitment to grow this to 15,000 by 2021. The advertising campaign is based on research with Garda students and new recruits who said they joined An Garda Síochána to help people, because it was not like any other job, and it had great variety. The campaign will feature Garda members in a number of situations where every day skills can transfer into policing. UL Hospitals Group is appealing to members of the public to consider all their care options before presenting to the Emergency Department (ED) at UHL. There has been a surge in presentations to Emergency Departments around the country in recent days and the ED at UHL is currently managing high volumes of patients including significant volumes of frail elderly patients with chronic conditions and complex care needs. “UL Hospitals apologises for any inconvenience caused to patients or their loved ones who have experienced long wait times in the ED at UHL, and we would like to reassure patients and their families that we are working to alleviate the situation,” the group said in a statement on Wednesday. “Members of the public are urged to consider all their care options at this time and not to attend the Emergency Department unless necessary.  Injury Units in St John’s, Ennis and Nenagh hospitals are open for appropriate injuries. AHEAD of the 2019 Dubai Duty Free Irish Open at Lahinch Golf Club in July, an open day for members of the public will take place at the Lahinch Coast Hotel on Sunday (April 7th) from midday to 4pm. Representatives from The European Tour, Lahinch Golf Club, Clare County Council, An Garda Síochána, HSE, Dubai Duty Free and Fáilte Ireland will be present to outline their preparations for the most prestigious event on the Irish golfing calendar from July 3-7.
