The state of the nation

THE Corruption Perception Index defines corruption as the misuse of public power for private benefit and it might surprise most to learn that Ireland is not within a country mile of being considered as such. Ranking in order of 10 (very clean) to 0 (highly corrupt) the honour of most corrupt falls to Somalia with 1.1. Denmark is number one with 9.3 with the rest of those pesky transparent Nordic countries and bright sparks New Zealand and Canada not too far behind.
