AGM

A very well attended AGM of Ennis Tennis and Badminton Club last week heard a positive report from outgoing chairman Conor Bunbury on the club’s activities.
On the playing front, the club competed at junior and senior level at a large number of regional and national competitions.
Despite the well-documented economic environment, club treasurer Tom Byrne recorded a robust set of financial and membership figures.
The development plans for the club were outlined by Ger Browne and Al Bredin and there was a detailed drawing on display to assist the discussion.

Inter-provincial and schools success

A number of juniors from the club had great success recently on the inter-provincial front.
Nine juniors from the club played for the Munster U-13 and U-15 titles in Dublin.
Last week, Coláiste Muire won the Irish Schools U-16A National Championship. They tied with Wallace High from Belfast on matches but won on a countback of points. The team was Ciara and Róisín Dwyer, Megan Bredin and Amy McNamara.

Tennis

On the tennis front, the club’s team travelled to play Killaloe over the weekend for the Clare Cup. Killaloe triumphed with a score of 116-76. This is the fourth year of this competition and the score is two wins each.
The Spring League for mixed doubles pairings is now well underway and the weekly American Tournament is scheduled to start in May.

Quiz night

A table quiz will take place this Friday in the clubhouse and non-members are welcome.
