Airport set to seek strike injunction

WHILE Shannon Airport is currently set to close for four hours on Friday morning due to a strike, management are poised to take legal action to prevent it.

The Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) last week signalled it would seek an injunction to prevent a strike closing Dublin and Cork and a spokesman for Shannon told The Champion this morning that it has given SIPTU until 1pm today to withdraw strike notice.

He said that if that doesn’t happen Shannon Airport Authority will seek “interlocutory relief by way of the courts”.
