25 years at Connolly Celtic

Photograph by Declan MonaghanFOUNDED in 1987, Connolly Celtic celebrated its 25th anniversary with a gala dinner at The Old Ground Hotel, Ennis on Saturday night.

Special guest on the night was FAI chief executive officer, John Delaney, who paid tribute to all involved with the club In their efforts to promote the game at adult and schoolboys’ and schoolgirls’ levels.
Founding members Michael Lydon, the current club chairman, Bob and Anthony Dillon and Kevin Hassett were in attendance and they were the recipients of a presentation from Delaney.
Six service awards were presented by the club to Tony Dillon, Michael Lydon, Martin Hehir, Martin Hickey, Mary Kennedy and John Murphy.
The Clare Junior League was represented by Donie Garrihy (chairman), Oliver Fitzpatrick (secretary) and Mike McInerney (treasurer), while the schoolboys league was represented by Tommy Molloy (chairman), Davy Kerin (secretary) and Flan Hehir (treasurer).
Donie Garrihy, on behalf of the Junior League, paid tribute to all involved with the club, while newly elected schoolboys chairman Tommy Molloy made a presentation to the club to mark the anniversary.
Club chairman Michael Lydon recalled highlights of the past 25 years after welcoming all to the function.
The club currently has a junior team, five schoolboy and five schoolgirls teams catering for players from U-8 to U-16.
