Morey’s goal crucial as Clare reach another provincial U-21 final

  Clare  2-15 Waterford  0-17 Defending champions Clare are through to the Munster U-21 hurling championship final but they had to survive a number of anxious moments at Walsh Park in Waterford on Thursday evening before overcoming the home side. In the final on Wednesday, August 7, they will face Tipperary in a repeat of last year’s decider but this time Clare will have to travel as the venue will be Semple Stadium in Thurles. The sending off of Waterford wing back Paudie Prendergast, on a second yellow card, eight minutes into the second half, was a key factor in the outcome. Most agreed that his first yellow card, 23 minutes into the game, was harsh and many argued that it was a case of mistaken identity. Plan for Farmers’ Market is covered

PLANS for a revamp of Ennis’ market area with a covered market are to begin at Garraunakilla, the site of the current Farmer’s Market. Talks are also to get underway with local businesses in Barrack Street about the possibility of expanding the covered market into that area. The coverings for the market area are expected to cost €25,000 each, Ennis Town Council has confirmed.

Promised roundabout fails to materialise

RESIDENTS of Cappahard and Oakleigh Wood are “frustrated” that a promised roundabout on the Tulla Road has yet to materialise, with talks of a possible protest. While Ennis Town Council have agreed that a roundabout is the most appropriate solution to ongoing traffic problems in the area, “the critical issue is obtaining funding,” a senior engineer has stated.
