10-week ban proposed for Kelly

A 10-week ban has been proposed for Clare footballer, Graham Kelly arising from his sending-off in Pairc Ui Caoimh, Cork last week.
The Miltown, St Joseph’s man was shown a second yellow shortly before the final whistle, having picked up the first in the opening half. As this was the second such offence in a 48-week period, it has led to a two-week ban. Kelly was sent off on a second yellow card in extra-time in last year’s qualifier tie against Offaly.
Kelly was also reported for a category 3 (head butt) offence, for which an eight-week suspension is proposed, bringing his total ban to 10 weeks. In addition, he must miss the next game in the same competition, whether it be outside the proposed 10 weeks or not.
Kelly has three days in which to look for a hearing if he wishes but it is understood that he will not pursue that route.
It is understood that the ban will not prevent him from lining out with his club in the forthcoming Clare championship.
