SOME unusual visitors caused quite a stir when they began ‘swanning’ around in Corrovorrin this week.

Residents were amazed to see two swans in the residential area in Ennis at around lunchtime on Monday.
Clare ISPCA officer Frankie Coote has urged motorists to be wary of water birds on the roads in the coming weeks.

“At this time of year eggs have hatched and birds are bringing their young to water. Over the next few weeks there will be an increase of this kind of behaviour, with ducks, swans and geese on the roads with their young ones, he explained, adding, “The birds in the more rural areas have a planned route, but around the town they don’t have a set plan to get to water so motorists should be on the lookout for birds on the roads.”
