Vital victory helps Lissycasey avoid relegation

A big win over Kildysart in round five gave a little hope and when they followed with a one point success over Éire Óg, chances of avoiding the drop increased.
They went into last week’s last round against Ennistymon in the knowledge that a win was needed to stay up.
They laid the foundations for victory in the opening half when they played against a very strong wind. Two points adrift at half-time, their hopes were high and within 10 minutes of the restart, they had gone two points clear.
Ennistymon then got a grip on the game and fought back to level before Lissycasey regained the initiative and went on to earn a merited win. Ennistymon followers will feel they should have been awarded a penalty inside the last 10 minutes but, overall, the home side were better balanced and made better use of their chances.
Martin O’Connor, Gerry Moran, Paul Nagle, Enda Finnucane, Niall Kelly and substitute Dermot Nagle did well for the winners while Lawrence Healy, Robbie McDonagh, Joe Dowling and Ronan Linnane got through some good work for Ennistrymon.

Cooraclare  0-4

Having lost their previous two competitive games, Éire Óg  travelled to Cooraclare on Sunday determined to bounce back to winning ways and when the final whistle sounded, they had done just that and secured a semi-final spot in the Garry Cup.
A win for the Ennis side didn’t look likely at the halfway point when the teams were level at 0-3 each after the Townies had played with the aid of the strong wind.
In the second half, they controlled the play and their passing game proved too much for the home side.
