VISITORS to Kilkee, or indeed locals caught unaware, may feel they have become emeshed in a bizarre time-warp on Sunday.
Members of the Crack’d Spoon Theatre Company will perform in a barber-shop quartet in the Kilkee Bay Hotel from 3pm, while half an hour later, the Civic Trust’s Road Train will depart for a trip around Victorian Kilkee. However, to gain admittance to the train, Victorian fancy dress is imperative.
At 3.45pm, the train is due to arrive in the Stella Maris Hotel where a silent film, prepared by young theatre group members, will be screened.
“We complete our train journey at the Kilkee Band Stand for a picnic on the promenade being serenaded by the barber-op quartet,” said Rob Hopkins of the theatre company.
The Victorian Day will conclude with a swim at 5pm,with swimmers urged to wear 19th century bathing outfits.
