Venue set for Munster Senior Hurling Final

The TUS Gaelic Grounds is set to host the eagerly anticipated Munster SHC Final between Clare and Limerick on Sunday, June 11.
Páirc Uí Chaoimh was on course to stage the game until an eleventh-hour intervention from Clare.
The venue was due to be announced on Monday evening but Clare requested the Munster Competitions Controls Committee to postpone the decision so they could explore the possibility of the TUS Gaelic Grounds hosting the game.
Clare go in search of their first Munster title since 1998 while they seek revenge for last year’s defeat at the same stage to Limerick. Brian Lohan’s men secured a vital win over Limerick in their second game of the Championship at the TUS Gaelic Grounds in April.
These sides have met in seven Munster SHC Finals with only one of those staged at the TUS Gaelic Grounds. That clash occurred in 1955 with Limerick prevailing on the day. Clare have only defeated Limerick in one Munster SHC Final clash, that victory in 1995.
The game will throw in at the slightly earlier time of 1.45pm to facilitate live TV coverage. The Leinster Final between Galway and Kilkenny throws in at 4pm.
A Munster Council statement on Tuesday afternoon, confirming a slightly earlier throw-in time, read: “Following a meeting today of the CCC of the Munster Council, it has been agreed that the Munster Senior Hurling Championship Final between Clare and Limerick will take place at the TUS Gaelic Grounds in Limerick on Sunday June 11th at 1.45 pm.”
“This decision follows a request from Clare to the Munster Council CCC on Monday evening of May 29th to postpone making a decision on the venue to allow Clare time to explore the possibility of playing the game at the TUS Gaelic Grounds in Limerick.”
“Earlier, Clare had proposed Semple Stadium, while Limerick had proposed Páirc Uí Chaoimh. The Munster Council CCC agreed to postpone making their decision, and today Clare and Limerick have confirmed that they had reached agreement to play the game at the TUS Gaelic Grounds.”
Stand tickets will be distributed through participating County Boards only, while terrace tickets will be going on sale to the general public on Thursday June 1st at 12 Noon.
