Underage board takes over U-13 competition


Clare’s underage hurling board has taken over the running of the U-13 hurling competition from the Clooney-Quin club who ran the event over the last decade.

At a special meeting of the board on Monday night, the draw for the 2013 competition was made after board chairman Martin Reynolds announced details of this year’s event while paying tribute to the Clooney-Quin club for their work in promoting the competition in recent years.

A total of 29 teams will play in this year’s event which will have A, B and C grades as well as a shield event.

Playing for the A title will be Clarecastle, Clonlara, Corofin, Inagh-Kilnamona, Kilmaley and Sixmilebridge.

In Group 1 of the B competition will be Wolfe Tones, Scariff-Ogonnelloe, Clooney-Quin, Doora-Barefield, Éire Óg and Newmarket while Group 2 will comprise Crusheen-Tubber, Ruan, Tulla, Broadford and Ballyea.

In Group 1 of the C competition, Ennistymon, O’Callaghan’s Mills, Feakle-Killanena and Whitegate will compete while Group B will comprise Banner, Parteen, Smith O’Brien’s and Cratloe.

Competing for the shield will be Doora-Barefield, Éire Óg, Inagh-Kilnamona and Kilmaley.
