The Irish Chamber Orchestra (ICO) will be joined by Finnish classical musician Pekka Kussisto at their upcoming concert at the University Concert Hall, Limerick on September 27.

The concert, entitled Finn Folk and Baroque, is being held in association with Cluid Housing Association and is in recognition of 2012 being the European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations.

Together with Pekka Kussisto, the ICO will perform a range of classical works by Bartok and Bach, interspersed with 17th century Finnish tunes by Samuel Rinda-Nickola.

Highlighting the importance of The European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations, the Irish Chamber Orchestra combines with children from its Sing Out with Strings orchestra at the concert interval. This is an ICO community initiative working to support Limerick’s social regeneration process through community music provision.

Tickets and booking information is available from the University Concert Hall on 061 331549 or from www.UCH.ie.
