U-21C honours for Parteen

PARTEEN captured the U-21C football championship title when they recorded a one-point win over O’Curry’s-Naomh Eoin before a good attendance at Clareabbey on Sunday.

The game was well contested and while Parteen led from the start, the result was in doubt to the finish.

The West Clare side were dealt a blow early in the second half when Jack Scanlan picked up a second yellow card.

The winners enjoyed the better of the early exchanges and they led by four points at half-time, when the score was 0-7 to 0-3.

As has happened on many occasions in the past, numerical disadvantage proved a great spur for the West Clare outfit and they looked like they had an extra man in the final quarter as they piled on the pressure.

They attacked regularly and were unlucky on occasions not to be rewarded with scores.

Parteen supporters had some anxious moments in the closing minutes as they hung on to a one-point lead.
After the game, team captain Padraic O’Connor was presented with the trophy.
