U-14 squads off to Thurles

THE Clare U-14 camogie development squad will travel to Thurles this Sunday to participate in the Orla McDonagh U14 Inter-County Camogie Blitz. The games will begin at 10am at Dr Morris Park for the A and B divisions, while the C competition will take place at the Tipperary Camogie Grounds at The Ragg.
The squad, consisting of 57 players, will have teams in the A, B and C divisions. There has been a huge improvement in the standard shown by all the players who have been part of the squad over the past months.
The squad is made up of players from across the county, with 22 clubs represented. This is a huge boost to the development of the game within the county and there is strong evidence that this is one of the strongest development squads that the county has produced in many years. The Tipperary blitz on Sunday is considered one of the top competitions for the summer.
The Clare A panel has done quite well this season and reached the final of the Dublin blitz in July, only to be pipped by Tipperary.
The B and C panels have had more mixed luck in their outings but there has been huge improvement all round.
At the beginning of the month, the three panels had challenge games against Cork when there were wins for the A and B squads, while the C squad lost narrowly to Cork. The A panel will be captained on Sunday by Killanena’s Polly Edge O’Neill, the B squad will be captained by Jane Fitzgerald from Inagh-Kilnamona and the C panel will be captained by Róisín O’Loughlin, Ruan.
The team management has invited parents, families and supporters of Clare camogie to travel to Thurles to support the teams.
The development squad is managed by Anne McMahon, Kilmaley, assisted by Marian Broderick (Éire Óg) and coached and trained by Alan Whyte, (Sixmilebridge), Brendan Lynch, (Éire Óg) and Stephen Powell, (Éire Óg).

U-15 Development Squad
CLARE U-15’s development season ended on Saturday with the All-Ireland Blitz in Kilkenny. Clare had another enjoyable day, playing three matches in Clara. Clare defeated Wexford and Down and lost by the minimum to Kilkenny.
Clare then proceeded to Nowlan Park to watch the All-Ireland semi-finals and were introduced to the attendance at half-time in the second game. This has been a very successful series. Clare have played 15 matches, losing only one to Kilkenny last weekend.
