TUMBLING Bones, an old-time bluegrass and folk band from New York are playing at Lisdoonvarna’s Roadside Tavern on Sunday at 9.30pm.
The four young men who make up the group play a mix of old-time bluegrass and old fashioned blues that belies their own relative youth. However, it is infused with some contemporary rock’n’roll which is a big influence for the band and has been reworked into their original arrangements and compositions.
“Every time we come to Ireland, we’re amazed by the beauty of the country and the hospitality of the people. People here seem to really appreciate traditional music,” said a band member.
The last five years have seen them move from street performances on European street corners to venues across the US. They performed on the premier American radio programme for live music, A Prairie Home Companion with Garrison Keillor.
The bands debut EP Risk Not Your Soul was released last year and reached the top 10 on the Roots Music Report’s Folk Radio Chart, while their latest record, Schemes, has just been released.
