Tubber cling on for victory over Smith O’Brien’s

A STRONG finish from Smith O’Brien’s wasn’t enough to prevent Tubber from taking the points in this Division 2A tie at Tubber on Monday evening.
Tubber had the better of matters up to the three-quarter stage and opened up a good lead. When Smith O’Brien’s were reduced to 14 men after corner-back Cian Nolan was dismissed, they upped their game and piled on the pressure. Their goals came from Micheál Ryan and John Cusack.
However, time wasn’t on their side and Tubber held on for victory.

O’CALLAGHAN’S Mills got back to winning ways when they accounted for Feakle at Kilkishen on Monday evening.
The sides were evenly matched in the opening half and the Mills went to the break with a one-point advantage, 0-8 to 1-4.
In the second half, O’Callaghan’s Mills extended their lead with some good scores from placed balls.

BALLYEA eased their relegation worries somewhat and got back to winning ways when they defeated Corofin at Ballyea on Monday evening.
In a game played in wet conditions, the first half was fairly even with goals from Shane O’Neill from a 20m free and a high ball from Tony Griffin, which deceived the Corofin goalie, putting Ballyea in a good position. The visitors clawed their way back shooting five points without reply before the break to level the tie at 2-4 to 0-10.
The winners upped the tempo in the second period, which ended with them outscoring their opponents by 0-11 to 0-5 to go on and record a much needed win.
