Tubber chasing Munster glory

Tubber 2-16   Bruff 0-10

Clare’s junior B hurling champions, Tubber, advanced to the Munster junior B final when they defeated Bruff in a very cold and windy Rathkeale on Sunday. They will now meet the winners of this week’s semi-final between Roscrea (Tipperary) and Castlemagner (Cork) in two weeks’ time in the final.

With a strong breeze blowing, mainly across the field, Tubber played against the elements and settled quickly with an early goal from Declan Ryan.  Bruff stayed focused and got back into the game with some well-taken points to level the score 0-6 to 1-3.

However, Tubber struck a second goal when David Fogarty finished to the net to give them a lead they would not relinquish and they went in at the break with a three-point advantage.

Tubber stamped their authority in the second half with three great points from play in the opening minutes and their disciplined and determined style of play quelled any threat from Bruff after that.

When the Limerick representatives were reduced to 14 men midway through the second half, Tubber took full advantage and with some great scores from play advanced to the Munster final with a comfortable winning margin of 12 points.

Declan Ryan and Evan O’Donoghue’s contribution warrant a special mention but it was the overall performance of the team that was most pleasing for all involved.
