Truagh/Clonlara prove too strong for Clooney Quin

Truagh/Clonlara 3-8
Clooney Quin 0-1

Truagh/Clonlara were the stronger team in this camogie U-14 A semi-final. Playing with the aid of the strong wind in the first half, greatly helped them against Clooney-Quin.
Clooney defended well, with all backs working very hard and they could do nothing to prevent the three goals, especially the third, which was a powerful shot from Áine O’Loughlin, who had been switched by the Truagh management from full-back to the forward line. Clooney battled all the way to the end though and held Truagh to three points in the second half.

Kilkishen followed this up with a goal from Niamh O’Gorman, leaving the score Kilkishen 3-2, Sixmilebridge 1-1 at the break.

Éire Óg 5-6
Wolfe Tones 4-1

Spectators were treated to a goal fest when Éire Óg and Wolfe Tones clashed in their U-14 semi-final on Wednesday evening at Shannon camogie pitch. The visitors took full advantage of a stiff wind to build up a strong half-time lead. Éire Óg attacked with gusto from the start and were four goals up within 10 minutes, with three scores from Elizabeth Russell and one from Erin Hehir. The Ennis girls maintained dominance for the rest of the half, with Maria Redmond, Alana McInerney and Eva Whyte clearing any threat and feeding great ball into the forwards, which was duly converted into all-important points by Róisín Martin (3), Ciara Kennedy (1) and Elizabeth Russell (2) to give their side an 18-point lead at the break.
Éire Óg had a good start to the second half, when Mary Tiernan added a goal. The hosts, however, upped the ante and Kerrianne Moloney made no mistake when she breached the Éire Óg back line and got her side on the scoreboard with a cracking goal. Buoyed by this score, the Shannon side pushed on and were rewarded with three more goals and a point.
