THERE will be a treat for traditional music fans in Cultúrlann Sweeney in Kilkee on June 15 when John Carty and Arty McGlynn make their first trip to West Clare to perform in concert.
John is one of the most respected fiddle players of his generation and was awarded the prestigious TG4 Traditional Musician of the Year prize in 2003.
He regularly tours Britain, America and Ireland with reformed super group, Patrick Street. He has also appeared as a special guest with the Chieftains and De Danann.
Arty has played and recorded with the likes of Christy Moore, Paul Brady and Donal Lunny and played in groups such as Planxty, Patrick Street, De Danann and the Van Morrison band.
Arty and his wife, Nollaig Casey, have released two duet albums to great acclaim, while he has often played with piper Liam O’Flynn and was co-producer on the album The Piper’s Call.
