Ennis Trad Festival directors John Rynne (left) and Mike Butler are looking forward to the festival, which takes place from Thursday, November 10 to Monday, November 14.ENNIS Trad Festival is back for its 18th year with a recession-friendly festival featuring five days of top-class music in the county capital.
The festival committee is calling on businesses in the town to come on board and support Ennis Trad Festival.
According to festival director, John Rynne, “There was great disappointment recently when Ennis didn’t win the bid for Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2012.however, the festival needs local businesses to realise that we already have a marvellous, quality festival in the guise of Ennis Trad.
“We are proud of what we represent here in Clare – top-class music played by the best of Clare’s traditional musicians joined by the best of the country’s traditional music talent. In addition to that, in the current economic climate, we are compelled to look at, embrace and invest in the assets still left to us.
“In Clare, that is Irish traditional music. The magical juxtaposition of our heritage and sense of self set to the rhythm of our jigs and reels makes us unique in this wonderful county. Once again, Ennis Trad Festival is the proud medium.”
Music lovers are set to travel to Ennis from all over the world for the event, which takes place from November 10 to 14.
John said, “It is indeed heartening for the festival committee that so many are once again travelling to our great little town from over all Ireland and indeed, the globe, to support the festival. It truly underlines our town’s cultural wealth and its impact internationally.”
“More than ever, Ennis Trad Festival recognises our responsibility, not only in preserving our traditional arts and providing a stage to showcase the very best talent, but also in presenting the town of Ennis as the place to be during the second weekend, every November.
“With this in mind, we call on our local businesses, who have been so supportive of the festival in the past, to once again join us in making Ennis Trad Festival 2011 an absolute success. We’re really delighted to have so many sponsors back on board this year – Ennis Town Council, Clare County Council, local vintners among many and we’re especially happy that The Clare Champion has come on board this year also.”
