Top results on international stage


IRELAND’S love of horses is known worldwide and showjumping has become a very popular sport in Clare over the past few years. There are over 200 registered showjumpers in the county and the  results speak for themselves of the calibre of particpants.
Joan Greene, Newmarket-on-Fergus
IN April, Joan won three international classes in Arezzo, Italy on Luxroe. In May, she was placed in Luxenburg on Biscaya D’Ebersan and placed twice in two international classes on Luxroe at the RDS Dublin Horse Show in August. Joan also won the Grand Prix at the Indoor Horse Championships in Kill, County Kildare last weekend on Biscaya D’Ebersan.

David Blake, Tuamgraney
IN July, David was first and third in an international class in Mullingar on Fabien and Zolitaire respectively.
He was placed in all seven qualifiers in the Horse Premier League. He won an international class at the RDS Dublin Horse Show in August on Burgraff Leap and was placed with Zolitaire and Camiro de Haar Z. David was the only young rider in Ireland selected to jump these international classes.
He was third overall in the National Championships in Ennis in September on Camiro De Haar Z. David heads to West Palm Beach, Florida this week to further his showjumping career.

Tom Foley, Tulla

IN April, Tom won a gold team medal in the Nations Cup of France on Dibidoe in Fontainbleu, France.
He was also first in the Prix Marie Lenge Bonneau on Crown Jewel, first in 4×4 Price Sifa on Crown Jewel, first in the Vishaig Sme Award on Crown Jewel, fourth in the Price Victoria on Dibidoe, second in the Grand Prix Veoliaclean on Dibidoe.
In June, he headed to Wierden, Holland and won another gold team medal in the Nations Cup of Holland on Crown Jewel, first in the Rabobank Grand Prix on Attyrory Clover Lily, first in the Fotonallen Grand Prix on Attyrory Clover Lily, fourth in the Robert Fox Grand Prix on Attyrory Clover Lily and first in the Bouwbedrisf Grand Prix on Attyrory Clover Lily.
He then headed to Chevenez, Switzerland in October. He won another team gold medal in the Nations Cup of Switzerland on Crown Jewel, was fifth in the Grand Prix on Crown Jewel and was joint first with Belguim in the European Youngsters Leavy Team Cup final.
At home in the Pony Premier League held throughout the year, Tom was first in Barnadown, first in Galway County, first in Galway Equestrian, first in Banteer, and second leading rider overall.
In the RDS qualifiers, Tom was seventh in Barnadown on Thorn, second in Mullingar on Attyrory Clover Lily, second in Barnadown on Voila, first in Galway Equestrian on Voila, first in Simmonscourt on Attyrory Clover Lily and third in the final in RDS Main Arena on Attyrory Clover Lily. He also won the Pony Spring Tour League on Attyrory Clover Lily. At the Cavan Home Pony International held in July he was first in Kerry Tourkington Memorial Grand Prix on Crown Jewel and was second and third in 1.30cm jump-off class on Another Destiny and Crown Jewel respectively.
At the Scottish Home Pony International held in August, he was first in Scottish JA Open Championships on Attyrory Clover Lily, first in the 148cm Grand Prix on Attyrory Clover Lily and got a silver team medal in the Nations Cup of Scotland on Attyrory Clover Lily.
Tom also won the Horse Grand Prix 1.30cm in Clonmel and was fifth in Claremorris in 1.30cm horse Grand Prix.

Eoin McMahon, Cratloe

IN April, Eoin won a gold team medal in the Nations Cup of France on Home Flight. He was sixth in the Prix Marie Ange Bonneau on Brooks Lands Flash Dance and third in Grand Prix Veolia Clean on Home Flight.
In June he headed to Wierden, Holland. He was eighth in the Rabobank Grand Prix on Another Destiny and third  in the BDO Accountants Prix on Another Destiny. In Hagen, Germany, in June, he won a team gold medal in the German Nations Cup on Another Destiny.
At Chevenez, Switzerland in October, he won a team gold medal in the Nations Cup of Switzerland on Another Destiny and was joint first in the European Youngsters Leavy Team Cup final with Belguim.
At home, Eoin was fourth overall in the Pony Spring Tour, was third in the Pony Premier League in Cavan on Another Destiny and fourth in Coilog in the Pony Premier League on Westside Ranger. In the RDS qualifiers, he was fourth in Barnadown on Westside Ranger, fifth in Galway Equestrian on Homeflight, seventh in Simmonscourt on Westside Ranger, fifth in Simmonscourt on Homeflight and fourth overall in the final in the Main Arena, RDS on Westside Ranger.
At the Cavan Home Pony International in August, Eoin was first in the 1.30cm Grand Prix on Home Flight.

Noelle Barry, Ennis

IN April, Noelle travelled to Fontainbleau, France, where she was second and fourth in the Grand Prix on Galway Blazer and Some Boy respectively. She was fifth on Some Boy in the 1.30cm class.
In July she was fifth in the RDS qualifier in Barnadown on Durrango and sixth in the Mullingar RDS qualifier on Licknaun Richie.
She was ninth overall in the Young Riders 1.30cm final at the RDS Dublin Horse Show.

Hannah Power, Ballyea

HANNAH travelled to Fontainbleau, France in April, where she was fifth in the Grand Prix on Flash Bobby.
In July at the Cavan Home Pony International, she was third in the 148cm Grand Prix on Flash Bobby and second in the 138cm Grand Prix on Coolmagene Kojak.

Robbie Clancy, Sixmilebridge

ROBBIE travelled to Chepstow, Wales in July to the Wales and West, Home Pony International. He won the 90cm Open on Ms Blueberry and was third in the Meter Open.
He also traveled to the Cavan Home Pony International in July. He was third in the Grand Prix on Ms Blueberry.

Patrick McNamara, Lisdoonvarna

PATRICK won the 148cm Grand Prix in July at the Cavan Home Pony International on Glenford Scott. He also won the 148cm 1.10cm class in Cavan on Glenford Scott.

Mark Doyle, Cratloe

MARK was placed in the 90cm Open class at the Wales and West Home Pony International in Chepstow in July on Cragroe Timothy.

Brian Gallagher, Cratloe

BRIAN travelled to Chepstow, Wales in July to the Wales Home Pony International.
He was second in the Meter Open, fifth in the 90cm Open and eighth in the 148cm Derby on Ballybrody King.
He also competed in the Cavan Home Pony International in July on Ballybrody King.

John Gallagher, Cratloe

JOHN had all clear rounds at the Wales and West, Home Pony International, Chepstow, Wales in July in the U-11 Little Championships, on his pony Mill Road Butterfly.
John was placed in the 70cm class at Cavan Home Pony International in July.

Niall O’Doherty, Miltown

NIALL competed in the Cavan Home Pony International and was placed with Amiro Clover.

Emma Malone, Kilrush

EMMA competed in the Cavan Home Pony International on Tulana Lad.

Christopher Slattery, Ennis

CHRISTOPHER competed in Fontainbleau, France in April on his pony Pollys Baby.
