The nowness of Being Donnacha

AN account of the thoughts, fears and hopes of Donnacha Rynne has recently been published.

Being Donnacha is a thought-provoking book about the 40-year-old Miltown Malbay man who was born with cerebral palsy and developed multiple sclerosis in his 20s. The combination of the conditions have confined him to a wheelchair for the last number of years.
The books also includes a selection of poetry that he has written over the past 20 years, as well as words about the author by those dearest to him.
Donnacha’s mother, Anne, said the idea for the book came from a conversation he had with his uncle, Barry (Luka Bloom), when he spoke about “the nowness of life”.
“Donnacha is inspirational and so incredibly courageous, as well as terribly insightful, so we knew there would be so much relevance for so many people in a book from him and about him,” she explained.
The book will be launched in the Community Hall in Miltown Malbay on Saturday, September 25.
